Advantages compared to an EU mail provider?

Hi,

I read the texts about e-mail privacy regulations in Norway as thoroughly as possible, but I’m not sure if I understood everything correctly regarding the advantages of Runbox compared to an EU mail provider, e.g. Germany.

The EU plans some concerning laws regarding access to encrypted messages and mails: https://www.patrick-breyer.de/?page_id=594160&lang=en

Would my mails better be stored in Norway if that happens?

Hi @anon56868238

Welcome to the forum.

Although Norway is not in the EU, it is in the EEA (European Economic Area) and as such it implements all EU regulations so that it can stay aligned with the EU single market. Therefore, you can consider storing your email in Norway as roughly equivalent to storing it in an EU country.

If you haven’t seen our pages on why storing email in Norway is advantageous compared to some other countries you will find them here: https://runbox.com/why-runbox/privacy-protection/runbox-norway-important/

Thank you.

Okay, thank you for this information! :+1:

Dave, could you please delete my forum account? Thank you in advance!

Yes, that’s absolutely okay. Thank you!
