Dropbox verification email not received using email alias

I just signed up with Runbox yesterday. I am trying to use a Runbox email alias to replace the email address I use for logging into my Dropbox account. After repeated attempts, the verification emails send by Dropbox never arrived. When I used my primary email address instead of an alias, the verification email arrived after a long wait. This is frustrating. Any suggestions?
