Forward e-mail to other e-mail provider

Hi - new here.
I’m bringing a couple of my own domains to Runbox from fastmail.

For one of our family domains, I want to forward e-mails to other accounts. The family member will not have an sub-account on runbox. This is easily done in fastmail, but I don’t see how this can be achieved in runbox.
e.g. : daughter@myfamiliy.com (not a sub-account) → needs to be forwarded to → daughter@otheremailservice.com

In fastmail this is just an alias that you tell to send e-mails further to the other e-mail provider/inbox.

Possible in runbox?

Hello, I’m also new here so I did not actually used this feature yet but I think you can do that with rules (at https://runbox.com/mail/rules):

It’s only possible with an active payed subscription (the option forwarded to is disabled on trial accounts).

Yes, that’s the way to do it except that if you use a “forward to” filter the original email will be retained in the Runbox account that received it. To "forward’ without keeping a copy use the “redirect to” filter instead. I hope that helps.

Off-topic, but just curious: why did you switch from Fastmail to Runbox? I can imagine it from the big tech companies, but not from a “good internet citizen” like Fastmail.

First of all Fastmail is an amazing service - no doubt. The offer they have on configuration is just amazing for the user, both in terms of server side “mail flow”, and UX for the user on the web. (This could improve 5x for Runbox if they just implemented Roundcube).
Main driver for me is as a Norwegian citizen, I wanted my accounts, and accounts I help with, to be located in Norway - aka. the data stored on Norwegian soil. As you know with Fastmail you either are in Australia or for the most users their data are stored in US. https://x.com/fastmail/status/1815485280603787399 (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania). So lately I’ve been moving all the “cloud” activity I consume to Norwegian companies, hosting in Norway (Myself and others I help with services).
With the 3 years contracts @ Runbox, the price is also a bit lower with Runbox compared to Fastmail, even though the development/innovation you get for those money is not comparable - you gain more @ Fastmail. But in sum - services and storage in Norway was the main driver.

Thanks for replying. Yeah - I tested out the To , however that does not catch CC, and BCC.
Could use Headers also. However, to be sure, I ended up using sub-accounts for each of them, and then forward their mail to the other mail service. In this way they can also send from this domain as well.

To forward to their other mail service form their sub-account I used the rule “From” - “If it not contains” some bogus chars e.g. “@@##$!” - and then forward/redirect to the other mail service. Works ok now.

Thank you for your candid answer. That was also the main reason for me: due to the current geopolitical situation, I wanted to move all my (email) data back to Europe. Runbox offers a secure alternative for this, although I do miss Fastmail’s level of development, innovation and ease of use. But the two providers are simply too different in terms of their number of users and employees to make a direct comparison.

Good reflection, and I agree - you can’t really compare the two services and companies. I decided to be comfortable with reaching the service via e-mail clients and not necessary the web, thus it’s ok as I can use any client I want supporting standard IMAP/SMTP/Dav. So for now I’m good. I’m this odd user that uses a lot of aliases - approx 90. I use an alias for every web service I touch, so I can stay in control if one of them are breached (data leakage). So it was quite a job, migrating those “by hand”. Looking forward to the next years to see how Runbox perform.
